A few weeks ago Winocm, the infamous iOS hacker who is going to join Apple later this year released a couple of videos showing dual and triple boot capabilities on his iPad 2. He has already released the promised utilities to boot another OS on an iOS device. However these utilities aren’t easy to use for general public until a GUI based tool is made available.
Now Winocm is back in action, however this time he has an even bigger breakthrough. The hacker has just tweeted a picture of Windows running on his iPad 2. In a post on reddit, he mentioned that this hack took him about 30 minutes to complete. The hack is also compatible with iPhone 4s.
Currently this hack is not meant for general public, but it obviously has a big potential. Imagine you’re able to dual boot iOS and Windows or iOS and Mac on your iPad. If hackers continue their hard work and make these powerful utilities user-friendly, then possibilities can go beyond your imagination.
At the moment all of these hacks are limited to iPad 2 and iPhone 4s. Another thing you should keep in mind is that your device should be running either iOS 5 or 6 to be able to support this hack if it is ever released.
