Chrome for iOS finally becomes as good as Safari

Chrome ios improved

Many users who use Chrome browser on the desktop or have switched from Android devices found Chrome for iOS slower and unstable on operating system, compared to the stock Safari browser. That has now changed as Google has finally implemented the WKWebView on its mobile web browser, making the application more stable, responsive, faster and able to offer better web compatibility. As Google has shifted from UIWebView to WKWebView, its Chrome browser on iOS will have 70 percent less crashes than before.

There are other improvements apart from stability on Chrome, the web compatibility has also improved as it now offers better support for IndexedDB. As a result Chrome on iOS now has an HTML5test score of 409, up from 391. Another thing you will notice is that switching to background tabs will make them reload less often than before. Javascript speed will be faster as well as users will have a better scrolling experience.

The latest Chrome for iOS also allows users to search for their bookmarks right from iOS Spotlight. So if you have been using Safari just because Chrome wasn’t good enough, now is the time to reconsider.

You can download Chrome for iOS from the App Store for free.
