If you have been wondering whether or not you should install watchOS 26 on your Apple Watch, then keep reading.
I was in the same position when Apple announced watchOS 26 at WWDC. That’s because my Apple Watch, which is an Apple Watch Series 6, is already 5 years old, and I was worried that the new update would make it slower and make the user interface unusable, especially because of the Liquid Glass design.
To my surprise, this Apple Watch Series 6, which came out 5 years ago, runs it like a champ.
It handles the new Liquid glass design, new watch faces, and other tasks as good if not better than, how it performed under watchOS 11.
Sure, it might show its age to someone who is accustomed to using the newer models. But if you are someone who has been using his or her watch for years and want to keep it going, then stop worrying and update it to watchOS 26 without hesitation.
What’s new in watchOS 26
In this update, users get access to 3 new watch faces, each of which adds a unique look to the watch. This includes Flow and Exactograph watch faces. The Liquid Glass design can be seen in various places, including the Control Center, smart stack screen, app UI elements, and more.
Sleep Score lets you track sleep and help improve its quality. watchOS 26 brings the Notes app from your iPhone to the Apple Watch. This means you can now create new notes right on your Watch.
The Workout app has also been redesigned and now features a fresh new interface along with a new workout buddy, which celebrates milestones with you and helps keep you motivated. Other features include Live Translation, Wrist Flick action to dismiss alerts, automatic volume adjustment, smart actions, and more.
Bottom line
Apple Watch Series 6 is the oldest model in Apple’s lineup that has received watchOS 26. The update is not limited to small changes, either, as it brings several new features to the Apple Watch.
So, this was our look at the new watchOS 26 update on Apple Watch Series 6. As you have seen in the video embedded above, this is a great update for Apple Watch users, which not only improves the look and feel of the Apple Watch’s user interface but also brings some really useful new features that make this update worth upgrading.
The performance on this 5-year Apple Watch should not only motivate those who own a Series 6, but should also encourage users of newer Apple Watch models to update their device to the latest version of watchOS.
