WhatsApp is perhaps the most popular instant messaging and communication app out there largely because of its popularity in European and Asian markets. Now it looks like Facebook-owned communication app might be looking to expand its footprint as a new report claims (via) that WhatsApp is finally making its way to the iPad and Mac platforms.
Currently users are able to access WhatsApp on the Mac and iPad using the web app, however the solution isn’t as reliable and convenient as having a dedicated app. For example, on the iPad there are third-party WhatsApp apps that enable access to WhatsApp but these apps require user to authenticate with their iPhone that needs to be connected to the Internet at all times, and are ad-supported.
With WhatsApp’s expansion to iPadOS and macOS platforms the service will be able to better compete with Apple’s own iMessage service as with the new apps users will be able to use WhatsApp on various Apple devices at the same time.
The new apps will also make it possible for users to use one WhatsApp account on multiple devices, so you will not only be able to run the same account on iPhone and iPad, but you will also be able to use your WhatsApp account on iOS and Android devices simultaneously.
WhatsApp users will get easy access to WhatsApp on their Mac without having Internet connectivity on their iPhone, something that is not possible right now with the official WhatsApp Mac app.
