We recently told you about a massive security hole in iOS and OS X that could allow hackers to steal your passwords and other data from an iPhone, iPad or Mac. The hack involves hacker sending a TIFF format based malware file, which when received on a device through iMessage, email or web can be executed by the hacker. It can then steal the stored passwords from the targeted device and leak it to the attacker.
While users can stay safe from this hack by simply upgrading their devices to iOS 9.3.3 and OS X 10.11.6, as Apple has already patched these vulnerabilities. This is certainly not an option for those who have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as they will lose their device’s jailbroken status after upgrading. So to solve this issue a new Cydia tweak called TIFF Disabler has been released. This hack patches the vulnerability in jailbroken devices, so they become immune to the TIFF attack.
After installing TIFF Disabler tweak you will no longer have to upgrade your device to iOS 9.3.3 and lose its jailbreak in order to protect yourself from TIFF attack. To download this hack simply open Cydia and search for it. It is available in the BigBoss repo for free.
But can Jailbreak Users protect from FaceTime hack ? They can’t.
