How to Fix AirDrop Not Working on iPhone 17

AirDrop not working

Are you facing issues using AirDrop on your iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Pro? In this troubleshooting guide, we have shared simple fixes that will get AirDrop working again in just a few minutes.

These fixes include toggling network settings, making sure AirDrop is visible on other devices, toggling Personal Hotspot, and more. Let’s get right into it.

Toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The first fix that mostly fixes the AirDrop not working issue is toggling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are required for AirDrop to work, so make sure they are turned on.

  1. On your iPhone, open Settings.
  2. Tap on Wi-Fi and make sure Wi-Fi is on.
  3. Go back and tap on Bluetooth, and make sure Bluetooth is on.

Even if both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are already on, toggle them off and back on again. Then try using AirDrop. It should work now.

Set AirDrop to “Everyone”

By default, AirDrop is set to Contacts Only. This means it will only work with devices belonging to people who are in your Contacts list. You can change this and make AirDrop send and receive from ‘Everyone’ for 10 minutes. Here’s how you can do this.

  1. Swipe down from the top right corner to access Control Center.
  2. Long-press on the network settings box (the one with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles).
  3. Tap on AirDrop.
  4. Select Everyone for 10 Minutes option.

Disable Personal Hotspot

Personal Hotspot sometimes interferes with AirDrop and prevents it from working. If AirDrop is not working for you, try disconnecting Personal Hotspot from other devices and then use AirDrop. It should work now.

Reset Network Settings

If nothing has worked so far, then resetting Network Settings can help. Remember, resetting network settings will not delete any data on your device however, Wi-Fi passwords will need to be entered again.

  1. Open Settings and go to General.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  3. Tap Reset.
  4. Finally, tap on Reset Network Settings.

Your iPhone might restart. After it restarts, reconnect to Wi-Fi and try AirDrop again.

That’s it, with these solutions, AirDrop should now be working on your iPhone, and the issues you were facing should be gone. Let us know which of these solutions works for you in the comments below.
