New $329 9.7-inch iPad Is A Great Tablet For Home, Work and School

If you are someone who has always been on a fence when it comes to buying an iPad, now might be the best time to get one. Apple has today launched a brand new iPad called simply the ‘iPad’. This new model replaces the iPad Air 2 and comes with some decent specifications and a price point that make it a must have for anyone looking for an affordable tablet. Apple’s new 9.7-inch iPad will be available in 32GB and 128GB storage capacities.

Lets talk about specs, iPad 9.7-inch is powered by an A9 64-bit processor and has M9 coprocessor for tracking motion. A9 is the chip that also powers the iPhone 6s. Apple chose to put A9 into this new budget model instead of A9X found on the iPad Pro models. It features the same 9.7-inch Retina Display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Noticeably missing from the device is the fully laminated screen found on the iPad Pro. It also lacks anti-reflective coating, wide color display and true tone display features.

The iPad comes with 8-megapixel back camera and a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera. The camera just like the screen is inferior than the iPad Pro model of the same size. It is incapable of taking live photos, does not have true-tone flash or wide color photo capture. The device cannot record 4K video unlike the Pro version. This iPad does not come with support for Apple Pencil or the Smart Keyboard case as it lacks the special accessory port.

Even with the specs this new iPad comes with, it is certainly a good buy at $329 for 32GB and $429 for 128GB. It comes in silver, gold and space grey color options. Cellular models come at $459 and $559.

The price point makes it a great option for students, lightweight work and home users who are looking for a tablet they can consume content on. The A9 processor and other specs on the tablet make it a great option for budget users. If you want more, then you can always go for the Pro options that have a starting price tag of $599.

The new iPad will be available for purchase on Friday, March 24. Learn more at Apple.
