If you’re a MacBook User, then you would know the struggle we often deal with due to limited port selection on our laptops. Whether it’s not having enough amount of ports or not having the right type of ports, these struggles can be hard to live with if you use your MacBook in a professional setup.
A lot of these problems can be solved with the right USB-C Hub or a docking station. In this review, we are taking a look at the powerful Thunderbolt 5 docking station from UGREEN.
The UGREEN Revodok Maxidok is a 10-in-1 Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station that comes with support for up to 120GBps transfer speeds, Dual 8K display support, and 140W system power.
So is this powerful USB-C hub good enough for your needs? And is it a good investment at its hefty price of $299? Let’s find out…
Unboxing
Let’s unbox the UGREEN Thunderbolt 5 docking station first. Inside, you get some reading materials.
You also get 3 types of adapters: the US type, the UK type, and the Asian type. These let you connect the docking station to a power outlet.
You also get the 140W adapter that connects directly to the docking station and provides it with the necessary power.
Finally, let’s take a look at the docking station itself. I am very impressed by its build quality. It features an aluminium alloy design with an internal heatsink, which ensures stable, cool, and quiet operation.
Design and Ports
There are 5 ports at the front for easy access, while the other 5, less frequently used ports, are situated at the back of the docking station.
At the front, you get an on-off button along with a blue LED light that lights up when the docking station is on.
Then you get a TF card reader, an SD card reader, and 3 10Gbps USB-A ports that are great for plugging in things like external hard drives, USB flash drives, and other accessories.

You get the Thunderbolt logo on the right side of the docking station.
At the back, you will find a port for power, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a DisplayPort 2.1, which can handle up to 8k display, and two USB-C Thunderbolt 5 ports that let you transfer large files at up to 120Gps transfer speeds.

Performance and Downsides
Thanks to Thunderbolt 5, you can achieve fast transfer speeds of up to 120Gbps when moving files through the USB-C ports. This makes copying large files to and from your MacBook significantly faster, especially if you’re using a Thunderbolt 5-capable machine.
When it comes to real-world performance, the difference is substantial. Compared to a standard USB-C 3.2 port, you can get up to 8x faster speeds, while even against Thunderbolt 4, you are looking at roughly 4x faster data transfer.

While I love the fast speeds, premium design, and selection of ports offered by this docking station, I do have a few complaints.
The fact that this docking station does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack means you cannot plug in your wired headphones into it without an adapter. This is a big let-down for professionals who deal with audio and love their wired headphones.
Another thing I am not a fan of is the lack of USB-C ports at the front. While I appreciate the 3 USB-A ports right at the front, I would have liked it more if there were at least one USB-C port at the front as well for easily connecting USB-C accessories.
Final Verdict and Ratings
Overall, the UGREEN Revodok Maxidok Thunderbolt 5 Docking Station has impressed us a lot. This docking station fulfills all the needs for MacBook users who want to turn their laptop into a workstation. The support for dual 8K displays and blazing fast speeds of up to 120Gbps from its Thunderbolt 5 ports make it a serious option for professionals.
