Thanks to the recent developments in the quest for an iOS 12 jailbreak, we are closer than ever to seeing a public release. Well known iOS hacker and developer of unc0ver jailbreak tool Pwn20wnd has made some interesting announcements on his Twitter account that suggest he is close to releasing a public jailbreak, at least in public beta capacity.

In a tweet posted several hours ago Pwn20wnd noted that Cydia and Cydia Substrate support for iOS 12 will be released as soon as it is ready for public testing. In the following tweet he noted that currently he needs to fix the bug in the CoreTrust workarounds, fix the sandbox patches, clean up the implementation and do more private testing before the jailbreak can be released for public consumption.

More recently the hacker has posted follow up tweets in which he has announced that he has been able to get tweaks working with Cydia Substrate on iOS 12 successfully. This is a major news as it means the iOS 12 jailbreak is not only working with Cydia but hackers are now able to run Cydia tweaks on a jailbroken device, which makes this jailbreak suitable for general iOS users.

While team Electra is focusing more on their own Sileo package manager, the developers of uncover jailbreak are still supporting Cydia. Their iOS 11 tool even included a Saurik approved modified version of Cydia that made the jailbreak store compatible with iOS 11.

With so many developments one can rest assured that a complete jailbreak for iOS 12 will be available sooner than later.
