In this guide, we show you how to add an AirTag to an iPhone in a few simple steps. Whether you have reset an old AirTag or just bought a new one, you can follow this guide to add it to your iPhone and start using it.
An AirTag allows users to track any item it is attached to. You can put it in your backpack, attach it to your wallet, place it in your luggage, or even make your kid or pet wear it with a strap.
To add an AirTag to an iPhone you need your iPhone (running a recent iOS version) and your AirTag.
You also need to make sure both the Bluetooth and Location Services are turned on in your iPhone.
Add an AirTag to iPhone
- In case it’s a brand-new AirTag, remove it from its packaging.
- Remove the paper cover around the AirTag. Make sure to pull it out completely.
- After you hear a chime, bring it close to your iPhone.
- From the pop-up, tap on the Connect button.
- Choose the name for your AirTag. You can choose from Keys, Backpack, or assign a custom name.
- Wait for the process to finish.
Using the AirTag
After the AirTag has been successfully added to your device, launch the Find My app and tap on the Items tab at the bottom. You should find your AirTag here.
You can now locate this new AirTag on a map, play a sound, or mark it as lost.
