In this tutorial, we will show you how you can change the look of the Liquid Glass design on your iPhone and iPad and select the new Tinted option.
Starting iOS 26.1 or later, Apple is offering a new feature that lets users make Liquid Glass tinted by increasing the opacity of various UI elements. This allows users to control how the liquid glass design looks and helps them make it less severe.
This mode essentially adds more contrast to iOS’s UI, reducing the transparency and hiding content beneath.
Enable the Tinted option for Liquid Glass
You can easily turn this feature on from the Settings app.
- On a device running iOS 26.1 or later, open the Settings app.
- Now go to the Display & Brightness section.
- Tap on the new Liquid Glass setting.
- Once you are on it, you will find two options. The Clear option is selected by default. Here, tap on the Tinted option to increase opacity and add more contrast to various UI elements of your device.
When Tinted is selected, a checkmark will appear next to its name. Exit the Settings app, and right off the bat, you will notice a difference in how various UI elements like the notification banners, app control bars, etc are shown.
They will appear slightly tinted instead of having a clear look.
That’s it, this is how you can choose between Clear and Tinted options and make the liquid glass more frosted.
