After reading the messages, tap on the menu button once again and select Messages to return to your main messages list page.
Disable Unknown Senders for Messages
You can easily fix this and get alerts for messages from people who are not in your contacts list by following these steps.
- First of all, launch the Settings app, scroll down, and tap on Apps.
- Here, search for Messages, and tap on it.
- When you are on the Messages settings page, find the Unknown Senders section.
- Here, you have to turn off the toggle for Screen Unknown Senders.
Keep Unknown Senders enabled and get alerts
You also have the option to keep this feature enabled, but allow notifications for messages from unknown senders.
For this, enable the Screen Unknown Senders toggle and tap on Allow Notifications.
On the next screen, turn on the toggles for Time sensitive and other. As you can see, the time-sensitive messages are those that contain verification codes and urgent requests.
iOS will send alerts for such messages and show them in the main messages list for 8 hours before moving them into the Unknown Senders list.
