On devices running iOS 18.2 or later Apple now allows users to Limit Maximum Volume for their iPhone’s built-in speakers.
With the new setting, you can set a volume limit from as low as 20% up to 90%. So if you set a limit of 70%, then the maximum volume of your iPhone’s speakers won’t go above 70% of its total volume, even if the system volume is set at 100%.
This setting works for songs, movies, and other media. The limitation does not apply to phone calls, emergency calls, alerts, ringtones, alarms, system alarms, and Find My sounds.
Set Up A Volume Limit For iPhone Speaker
- Launch the Settings app and go to the Sounds & Haptics option.
- From there scroll down and under the built-in speaker tap on the Volume Limit option.
- On the next screen turn on the toggle for Limit Maximum Volume. This will reveal a slider that can be moved between 20% to 90%.
- Move the slider to your desired position. The position you set will be your iPhone speaker’s maximum volume limit.
- Exit the Settings app.
That’s it. Now your iPhone’s built-in speaker volume won’t exceed the limit you have set up, even when you raise the system volume to 100%.
