How to Switch Cameras While Recording Video on iPhone

Switch cameras while recording

Have you ever wanted to switch from iPhone’s rear camera to the front camera while recording a video? This is super useful when you want to show your face and then flip to what’s in front of you.

Unfortunately, the stock camera app does not allow users to switch between cameras while recording. Thankfully, there’s a workaround that you can follow to switch iPhone cameras while recording videos. The video will be recorded in a single clip and does not require any editing.

Switch between front and rear cameras while recording

For this, you have to rely on a third-party app called Timestamp Camera. The app is available for free.

After downloading the app from the App Store, launch it and grant all the necessary permissions to it. After that, you will be able to start recording video that can be switched between front and rear cameras while recording.

The app puts a timestamp over the video. You can turn it off by tapping on the button in the bottom right corner and then changing the text opacity to 0.

To start recording, hit the record button. When the recording is on, tap on the flip button at the top.

As you will see, the app will continue to record while the iPhone has seamlessly switched from the rear to the front camera.

Tap on the flip button once again to switch the camera. You can do this as many times as you like during a single recording.

After you are done recording, simply hit the red record button again to stop recording. You can then preview the view right inside the Timestamp camera app or open the Photos app and watch the video there.

That’s it, this is how you can flip cameras mid-recording and create more dynamic videos on your iPhone without any editing.
