Turn on Ringer iPhone

Are you facing an issue where your iPhone does not ring for calls or alerts? In this guide, we will show you how to fix this by turning on Ringer on your iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Pro.

There are plenty of reasons why your iPhone might not ring when you are receiving a call. Below, we have looked at all of the common reasons and addressed them with solutions.

Turn on Ringer on iPhone 17

Action Button

The easiest and quickest way to turn on Ringer on iPhone 17 is with the Action button. Just follow the steps below.

  1. Press and hold the Action button located on the side of your iPhone 17.
  2. As you press on it, you should see a message saying Ringer On on the screen.

If your device’s Action Button is not set to toggle between silent mode and ringer, then you can set it up from the Settings app. Just go to Settings -> Action button and select the Silent Mode option.

Action button silent mode

If you have an older model of iPhone, such as iPhone 14 or older, then you can switch between ringer and silent modes through the Silent switch, which is located on the left side of your device.

  • If you see an orange line, your iPhone is in Silent mode.
  • Flip the switch upward so the orange line disappears

Settings app

Another way of turning the ringer on is through the Settings app. You can do this by going to Settings and tapping on Sounds & Haptics. Here, make sure the toggle or Silent Mode is turned off

On the same page, you can also adjust the ringer volume and enable the ‘Change with buttons’ toggle, which will allow you to change the ringer volume with the volume buttons.

Now, when you press the volume up button, it will increase your ringer volume instead of just media volume.

Turn off Do Not Disturb or Focus mode

Sometimes your iPhone does not ring because Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode is active. You can turn off Do Not Disturb mode by accessing the Control Center and disabling these modes from there.

That’s how you can turn on Ringer on your iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Pro and make sure that your iPhone rings whenever you receive a call or message.
