In iOS 26.2 or later, Apple has added a new accessibility feature that makes the screen flash brightly whenever you receive a new alert. When the Screen Flash for Alerts is enabled, the screen’s brightness gets high briefly before returning to normal.
The new option is available alongside the LED Flash for Alerts option, which previously allowed users to have their device’s flashlight blink whenever they receive a new alert.
While this feature is designed for those who have hearing disabilities, it is also useful for everyone else, as it makes alerts more prominent.
Turn on Screen Flash for Alerts
You can turn on Screen Flash for alerts by following a few simple steps.
- Open the Settings app and go to the Accessibility option.
- Here, find and tap on the Audio & Visual option.
- Now scroll all the way down to the Visual section and tap on the Flash for Alerts option.
- On the next page, make sure to turn on the toggle for Flash for Alerts from the top and then select the Screen option.
- You can also choose the Both option if you want your iPhone to flash the screen and LED flash every time you receive an alert.
From the last two toggles, you can select whether you want your device to flash the screen and LED flash when it is unlocked and when it is in silent mode.
After choosing the right settings, you can exit the settings app. This will enable the feature and make your iPhone’s screen and LED flash whenever you receive a new alert.
That’s it, this is how you can turn on the Flash for Alerts option on your iPhone and use its screen and LED flash to find out when you have a new alert.
