In this tutorial, you will learn how to enable the W-Fi Assist feature on your iPhone and how to start using it.
Turn on Wi-Fi Assist
- Launch the Settings app.
- Go to the Cellular option.
- Here, scroll down until you find the Wi-Fi Assist option.
- Turn on the toggle for Wi-Fi Assist.
What does Wi-Fi Assist actually do?
Wi-Fi Assist feature switches your iPhone to cellular data whenever it notices a weak or unstable Wi-Fi connection. So if you are browsing the web, watching a video, or downloading something, your iPhone will seamlessly switch to cellular Internet instead of losing connection just because the Wi-Fi signal got weak.
Wi-Fi Assist won’t activate for large downloads or heavy video streaming, and it won’t use too much data. It is only there to assist your Wi-Fi connection whenever it becomes slow.
You can check how much data the Wi-Fi Assist feature has used by going to Settings -> Cellular and looking under the Wi-Fi Assist toggle.
