If you want to learn what Adaptive Mode is on AirPods, how to enable it, and how to customize it to best fit your needs, then this guide is for you.
What is Adaptive Mode?
Adaptive Mode in AirPods combines the Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes together to control the amount of noise the user hears in their headphones. It adapts to the changing noise conditions in the user’s environment and adjusts the sound accordingly. It replaces the ‘Off’ setting in the Noise Control section.
Which AirPods have Adaptive Mode?
As of right now, only AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 have the Adaptive Mode feature.
Enable and Customize Adaptive Mode
To enable Adaptive Mode, follow these steps.
- Swipe down from top right corner of the screen to access Control Center.
- Long-press on the Volume Slider to access more controls.
- Tap on the Noise Control button and from the expanded menu select Adaptive Mode.
You can also enable Adaptive Mode by going to Settings -> Bluetooth and tapping on the ‘i’ button next to your AirPods name. Then select Adaptive Mode under Listening Modes.
To customize the Adaptive Mode feature, perform these steps.
- Go to Settings and tap on Bluetooth.
