Apple has just released iOS 26 software update for everyone. Now, anyone who has an iOS 26-compatible iPhone or iPad can head over to the Software Update section and install the new release.
While Apple has made iOS 26 available for download, the company has also released the iOS 18.7 update for users who do not want to upgrade their iPhone to iOS 26 yet.
Apple is giving users the option to choose between iOS 26.0 and iOS 18.7. Those who have already installed iOS 18.7 are seeing device is up to date message, with an ‘Also Available’ option for upgrading to iOS 26.
Devices that are on older versions of iOS 18 see the iOS 18.7 installation screen with an option to upgrade to iOS 26 under the ‘Also Available’ heading.
Apple has been giving users a choice between the older and latest versions of iOS for the past two years, starting with iOS 16. This gives hesitant users some time to discover iOS 26 and wait for Apple to refine iOS 26 further before upgrading their devices to the latest version.
To install iOS 26 instead of iOS 18.7
If you’re interested in installing iOS 26.0, then you can tap on the Upgrade to iOS 26 button and then download and install iOS 26 over the air.
Just go to Settings -> General -> Software Update and tap on ‘Upgrade to iOS 26’. Then, finally tap on the Download and Install option.
