Apple Releases iOS 16.6.1 And iPadOS 16.6.1, Get Direct Download Links Here

Just ahead of iOS 17’s public release, Apple has released what could possibly be the last iOS 16 update. Today Apple has released iOS 16.6.1 and iPadOS 16.6.1 updates and they are now available for download on compatible devices.

Along with iOS 16.6.1, we can also confirm the release of macOS 13.5.2 and watchOS 9.6. You can now head over to the Software Update section of your device in order to download and install the update. iOS 16.6.1 is an important security release from Apple that is recommended for all users. The build number for today’s release is 20G81.

The release notes of iOS 16.6.1 say “This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”

This includes bug fixes for Image I/O vulnerability that could be used by ‘a maliciously crafted image’ to perform arbitrary code execution. Apple notes that this bug may have been actively exploited.

Another vulnerability that has been fixed in today’s release is related to the Apple Wallet app. According to Apple, a ‘maliciously crafted attachment could be used to perform arbitrary code execution. This vulnerability may have also been exploited in the wild according to Apple.

Apple has fixed these vulnerabilities in all of its operation systems by also releasing macOS 13.5.2 and watchOS 9.6.2.
