Apple has today released iOS 18.2 Release Candidate and it is now available for download to developers and public beta testers. If you are running iOS 18.2 beta on your iPhone or iPad, then head over to the Software Update section to download this latest release.
The release of iOS 18.2 RC indicates that Apple will most likely release iOS 18.2 for everyone by next week. The build number for iOS 18.2 RC is 22C150. It would be interesting to see if Apple ends of releasing the same build for everyone next week or issues a newer build.
iOS 18.2 will be a major update for all iOS devices that support Apple Intelligence. This includes all models of iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. All iPads with an M1 chip or later also support Apple Intelligence.
In iOS 18.2 Apple is releasing the following Apple Intelligence features:
- Image Playground: This lets users create images by typing descriptions.
- Image Wand: Allows users to turn rough sketches into AI-generated images.
- Genmoji: Allows users to generate custom emojis based on their descriptions.
- Visual Intelligence: This new feature will allow users of iPhone 16 to press their device’s camera control button and point the camera to things around to learn about them.
- Writing Tools: Apple is introducing the Compose feature that will allow users to generate text based on their description. The new Describe your change option will allow users to make changes to a piece of text by describing what kind of changes they want.
In addition to iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 RC, Apple has also released macOS Sequoia 15.2 RC, and release candidates for watchOS 11.2, tvOS 18.2, and visionOS 11.2. You can now download them on compatible test devices as well.
