Apple has released the iOS 18.6.1 update for iPhone and iPad users, and it is now available for download over the air. The update, which comes alongside watchOS 11.6.1, brings a ‘redesigned Blood Oxygen feature’ for users.
The redesigned Blood Oxygen feature is available for Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users in the United States. Only these models were the ones sold without the Blood Oxygen reading capability. Users of older models continued to have access to the Blood Oxygen feature.
The introduction of a new Blood Oxygen feature comes 18 months after Apple stopped selling Blood Oxygen reader-equipped Apple Watches in the U.S. as a result of patent disputes with a company called Masimo.
Apart from bringing Blood Oxygen functionality to Apple Watch users, this update does not bring any noticeable new changes or improvements for iPhone users.
You can download iOS 18.6.1 on iPhone by going to Settings -> General -> Software Update. You can also download it through direct iOS 18.6.1 IPSW links shared below and use iTunes or Finder to install the update manually.
