If you are waiting for the release of iPhone SE’s 3rd generation then you might want to keep reading. According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple is going to launch iPhone SE 3 in Spring 2022.
According to the report the new device will carry the same design as is found in the current generation. This means the 3rd Generation iPhone SE will still feature a Touch ID equipped physical home button, making it the only iPhone in Apple’s lineup to feature it.
Due to the presence of home button we can expect the new device to look the same and feature the same physical appearance as the previous models.
One area in which the next generation iPhone SE is going to see big changes is the specifications. According to the report Apple will give iPhone SE 3 its latest A15 chip along with 5G network capabilities, which will finally bring high speed cellular internet to Apple’s budget smartphone.
This is not the first time we are hearing about a spec bump only upgrade for iPhone SE, as previously analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also said that Apple will be releasing an upgraded iPhone SE in the same chassis as the current model.
A Spring 2022 launch will match Apple’s typical schedule for launching a new iPhone SE. For instance the original iPhone SE was launched in March of 2016 while the second generation made its debut last year in April 2020.
We still don’t have any word on whether Apple will be offering a 5.5-inch iPhone SE next year or it will continue with the 4.7-inch size only.
