Apple has announced the new Apple Watch Series 6 at its Time Flies event. Series 6 wasn’t the only Apple Watch that was announced today, as Apple has also revealed the Apple Watch SE, which is the more affordable sibling to the flagship Watch. In this post we will talk about both of the new Watches announced by Apple at Time Flies event.
Apple Watch Series 6
Let’s talk about the star of the show, the Apple Watch Series 6. The new flagship Apple Watch replaces the Apple Watch Series 5 and has some new tricks up its sleeves. Apple Watch Series 6 has gained new sensors that allow it to measure the Blood Oxygen Levels. The new Apple Watch has the same always-on Retina Display however on the new Watch it is 2.5 times brighter outdoors. Series 6 is powered by the new S6 chip.
Just like other Apple Watch models, the new Series 6 running watchOS 7 will feature the new Sleep app. Using the Sleep app Apple Watch users will be able to track their bedtime routine and see their sleep trends. Users can also set and achieve sleeping goals using the Sleep app.
This year’s Apple Watch Series 6 comes in new (PRODUCT)RED finish and a new Blue finish, which adds new colors to the Apple Watch lineup along with the usual offerings. New bands including the Solo Loop and the Braided Solo Loop have been introduced along with new Nike and Hermes bands.
On the software side Apple has announced new Watch faces, the Family Setup feature that will allow parents to set up their kid’s Apple Watch with their iPhone and more.
Today Apple has also announced the new Fitness+ subscription service that costs $9.99 per month. This new service features video based workouts and unique features like the ability to show Apple Watch activity stats and workout stats on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.
Apple Watch Series 6 starts at $399 for the 40mm model and $429 for the 44mm model.
Apple Watch SE: A more affordable Watch for everyone
This year Apple has introduced the new Apple Watch SE, which is the more affordable Apple Watch for everyone. The Apple Watch SE looks the same as the Series 6 apart from one major differentiating factor, which is it lacks the always-on display found on the Series 6. It would not be wrong to call Apple Watch SE the Apple Watch Series 4 without the upgraded specifications. Watch SE also lacks the ECG feature (which is found on the Series 4, 5 and 6). The new Blood Oxygen level monitoring feature is also exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 6.
Apple Watch SE features the S5 chip, 40mm and 44mm size options, fall detection, cellular option, Sleep app, Workout app, Fitness+ support and more.
Apple Watch SE is available for $279 for the 40mm model and $309 for the 44mm model.
