One of the biggest highlights of Apple’s September 9th event was the announcement of the Apple Watch. The digital watch that everyone had been waiting for the past several years. The Watch is packed with tons of features and has capabilities that are going to revolutionize health and fitness categories while providing easy access to features like maps, messages, notifications, Siri and many more. Perhaps the only disappointment of today’s announcement was that we will not be able to buy an Apple Watch until early 2015.
While introducing the Watch, Apple revealed that there are going to be more than one ‘collections’ of the device apart from it coming in two different sizes. The collections are called Watch, Watch Sport and Watch Edition. Here in this post we will explain to you the difference between these editions.
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is the simplest collection of the new product that features stainless steel as well as space black steel cases. It is meant for an average user. Users can choose from three different types of leather bands including Milanese loop, link bracelet and the fluoroelastomer band. This Watch is designed in such a way that it can be wore during all sorts of daily activities. It has a mirror finish that helps in giving it a formal look whereas its stainless steel case provides it with strength. The screen of this collection is made of Sapphire crystal that is scratch-resistant. There are total 18 models in the ‘Watch Collection’ each of which has a distinctive look.
Apple Watch Sport
The Watch Sport collection is designed for athletes, sportsmen and sportswomen. It is made up of lightweight anodized aluminum body and comes in silver and space grey colors. For the protection of the display the Sport collection Watches feature strengthened Ion-X glass. Thanks to the 7000 series aluminum and the Ion-X glass in its body the Watch Sport models are up to 30 percent lighter than the Watch Collection models. Unlike the bands for the Apple Watch collection the Watch Sport has especially designed bands that are flexible, light and soft. Bands are available in five different colors including white, blue, green, pink and black.
Apple Watch Edition
The third collection is called the ‘Watch Edition’. This collection features six different looks, all of which have cases that are made up of 18-karat gold. Apple claims that the material used in the creation of Watch Edition devices is twice as hard as the standard gold. Just like the Watch collection, the Watch Edition features sapphire crystal polishing on its display that provides superior protection. This collection of the Watch basically falls into the luxurious brand of the Watch, that is definitely going to cost a lot more than the previous two collections.
At this point it is unclear if there would be a price difference between the collections and different bands. Apple has only announced that the Watch will start from $349, without revealing any further details.
Is there any feature difference between the watches? More specifically the Sports and normal watch.
Just the screen. The sports edition has an ion-x screen while the Apple Watch has a crystal screen.
