How to use any GIF as your iPhone or iPad’s bootlogo using BootGIF 2

Jailbreak users like to customize every aspect of their iOS device and this includes replacing the normal bootlogo image that typically features the Apple logo with a fun image of their choice. Users are even able to use any GIF animation that they like as their bootlogo. Now to make the process of applying a custom GIF animation as the bootlogo easier a new app called BootGIF 2.0 has been released. It is the new and improved version of the original software that allowed users to the same thing.

With BootGIF 2 you can create bootlogo using any animated GIF, change its settings to make it optimized for the iPhone or iPad and live preview it. Along with BootGIF software on your desktop you will also need Animate and Animate Fix tweaks installed on your jailbroken device. Both are available for free.

Here’s a step by step guide on how to use a custom GIF animation as iPhone or iPad’s bootlogo.

  • On your jailbroken iOS device launch Cydia and download the ‘Animate’ and ‘Animate Fix’ tweaks.
  • Next download the BootGIF software on your Windows, Mac or Linux based PC and open it. Use the tutorial video below to properly prepare the image that you want to use with your device.

  • After you have finished working on the GIF put it in /Library/Bootlogos using any app that provides you root level access to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. You can use iFile, iFux box or OpenSSH to do so.
  • After copying the image on your device simply go to Settings and apply it by from ‘Bootlogo’ option.

This tool can be used with both iOS 8 and iOS 7 devices.
