As surprising as it sounds, iOS by default does not have a plain text editor. If someone sends you a plain text file you can read it however if you want to make changes to it, you are out of luck. Even if you have Apple’s Pages app installed it will convert the file into a Pages document, which can be very annoying.
A new and free app for iOS called Textor solves this problem by bringing an easy to use plain text editor to iOS devices. It is essentially TextEdit for iOS users. The app, which is based on standard documents browser allows users to open plain text files, create new ones and edit existing ones. You also get the ability to open files stored in iCloud Drive and other applications.
You can download the Textor app from the App Store, where it is available as a free download. The app offers iPhone X optimization and natively runs on iPad.
