iOS’s default music widget that appears on the lock screen is in need of a redesign. Not only does the music widget looks outdated but it also lacks many features that users want to have access to. Probably that’s why there are so many music widget tweaks that aim to redesign and add features to it.
Joining them today is Acies tweak, which claims it is the media player ‘you deserve’. Acies replaces the traditional iOS Lock Screen media player with an improved player that has been built from scratch.
With Acies you get additional features that are not available on the stock music widget. It brings color changing background to the music widget, which changes color every time to match the album artwork of the currently playing song.
If colorized music widget is not your style, then you can also opt for the transparent look that completely removes the background and gives Acies music player a minimalistic look.
Acies isn’t just about changing music widget’s design though as this tweak also adds some cool new features that improve the music listening experience for the users. Acies adds a double tap to skip/go feature that allows users to skip 10 seconds of a song by double tapping on left or right side of the widget. This is similar to how you can skip a few seconds of a video in many video apps.
The tweak also adds a volume button on the widget that users can tap on to access a volume slider, making adjusting volume more convenient.
On the top you can also see the name and icon of the app music is being played from.
Acies music player includes a detailed routing button that shows the name of the device music is being outputted to at the top right corner. Users can tap on this button to change the device music is routed today.
You can download the Acies tweak from the Packix repo where it is available for $1.50.
