Typecast tweak adds Mac like typing indicator to conversation list and icon, supports WhatsApp and Kik

Typecast tweak main

Those of you who have used the Messages app on the Mac would know that the tweak displays a typing indicator that you also see on the conversation screen, on the conversation list. This bubble is there to notify you if someone has started typing even that when person’s conversation page is not opened. The Typecast tweak for jailbroken iOS devices brings the same feature to the Messages app, WhatsApp and Kik messenger on iOS. In addition to adding the typing indicator to the list page it also adds a similar button to Messages app’s icon.

The indicator obviously works only for the iMessage service and not for SMS. The tweak also shows a check mark bubble right on the conversation list page when someone has read your message. This tweak is super useful for situations when you are talking to multiple people simultaneously. You can just reply to one friend and return to the conversation page to see who is typing and who has read your messages. Usually you would have to open each of the individual conversation pages to see this information.

Typecast tweak 2

The typing indicator appears on the Messages app’s icon as well as on the status bar. This means no matter which part of iOS you are using, you will be able to see the typing indicator.

Typecast is not the only app that expands the presence of the typing indicator, however it is the most featureful. TypeStatus 2 adds the typing indicator to the status bar. The fact that Typecast supports WhatsApp and Kik in addition to Messages app really makes it worthy of its price tag.

You can download the Typecast tweak from Cydia for $1.49. It is compatible with iOS 8.
