In this guide, we show you how to change the charge limit on iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Pro. Whether you want to make your iPhone stop charging at 80% charge to protect battery health or want to charge it all the way up to 100% for longer battery life, this guide has got you covered.
Users have access to charging optimization features on iPhone that allow them to set a limit for how much their iPhone should charge when they plug their iPhone into its charger.
For example, you can set a limit of 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, and 100%. Whichever limit you set, your iPhone will automatically stop charging further from that point.
Change Charge Limit
- Open Settings and go to Battery.
- Here, tap on the Charging option.
- From the next page, move the slider. Choose between 80% to 100% charging limits.
- If you select 100% charging limit, make sure to turn on the toggle for Optimized Battery Charging.
When you select the 100% option, you will be able to turn on the optimized battery charging toggle. This toggle, when enabled, makes the iPhone charge up to 80% and then finish charging past 80% until the time you need to use the device.
For example, if your iPhone reaches the 80% charge at 4 AM in the morning and you usually wake up at 7 AM, then your iPhone will wait a few hours and then charge the rest of the 20% near your wake time. This helps improve the battery’s lifespan and battery health.
Force iPhone to charge 100% just one time
If you have a long day ahead or are going out on a trip, then you can force your iPhone to charge up to 100% for one time only.
To do this, wait for your iPhone to reach 80% charge. Once it is at 80% and is on its charger, go to Settings -> Battery and tap on the Charge to 100% button.
That’s it, this is how you can set iPhone 17’s charging limit and even force it to charge up to 100% for one time.
