Apple Pencil Pro
An Apple Pencil Pro can be paired with an iPad Pro with an M4 Chip or later and an iPad Air with an M2 chip or later.
To connect your Apple Pencil Pro to your iPad simply attach it to the magnetic connector on the side of your iPad.
As soon as you attach the Pencil Pro to the iPad, an image of the Pencil should appear on your device’s screen followed by a welcome screen. Your Apple Pencil Pro will also start charging.
Hit the Continue button remove the Pencil from the side of the device and start using it.
Apple Pencil USB-C
You can pair your Apple Pencil USB-C to your iPad by following the steps below.
- Slide open the end of the Apple Pencil USB-C to reveal its USB-C port.
- Plug a USB-C cable into the port.
- Plug the other side of the cable into your iPad’s charging port.
When you plug in the cable to your iPad a notification should appear letting you know that the iPad has detected an Apple Pencil followed by a welcome screen. After charging you can unplug the Pencil and start using it with your iPad.

- 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd to 6th generation)
