Are you experiencing GPS issues on your iPhone? If yes, then don’t fret, as in this guide, we will show you how you can fix the GPS not working problem on your iPhone and get it working again.
When the GPS is not working on your device, you may see an incorrect location or the location not updating in real-time. These issues can prevent you from using location data-based apps like ride-hailing service apps, food delivery apps, and more.
Here’s how you can solve these issues yourself.
Fix GPS Not Working on iPhone
Before performing these fixes on your device, perform these steps first.
- Turn Airplane mode on and off
- Restart your iPhone
- Update iOS to the latest version
Fix 1: Enable Location Services
First of all, make sure Location Services are enabled on your device. You can check this by following these steps.
- Open Settings and go to Privacy & Security.
- Here, tap on Location Services.
- Now turn on the toggle for Location Services.
If this toggle is turned off, your iPhone won’t be able to detect your location at all. Also, scroll down and make sure toggles next to location-based apps like Google Maps, Uber, and other apps are enabled.
Fix 2: Check App Location Permissions
If you are facing GPS issues in a specific app only, then you can solve this by following the steps below.
- Open Settings and go to Privacy & Security.
- Here, tap on Location Services.
- Now tap on the app’s name you are having issues with.
- Now select ‘While Using the App’ or ‘Always’ options.
Make sure the toggle for ‘Precise Location’ is turned on, as it will provide better location accuracy.
Fix 3: Calibrate the Compass
If the location arrow is pointing to the wrong location, then recalibrating the Compass can help solve the issue for you.
For this, launch the Compass app and make a figure-eight motion a few times. This recalibrates the compass and improves GPS accuracy on your device.
To enable Compass Calibration, go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services -> System Services -> Compass Calibration -> Turn On.
Fix 4: Reset Location Settings
If nothing has worked so far, then reset location settings on your device.
- Open Settings and go to General.
- Scroll down and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap on Reset and then choose Reset Location & Privacy.
This won’t delete any of your data, but it will reset location permissions and can potentially fix the GPS not working issue on your device.
