Is your iPhone stuck in SOS or SOS Only mode? Are you seeing SOS only in the status bar and don’t know what to do? In this guide, we will show you how you can fix an iPhone stuck in SOS mode and get your device working normally again.

When an iPhone is stuck in SOS mode, it cannot make calls, send texts, or use cellular data. In SOS mode, the iPhone can only make emergency phone calls.

You can fix this issue with the four fixes below.

Fix iPhone Stuck in SOS Mode

Fix 1: Check your signal coverage

The first thing that you need to check is whether you actually have cellular coverage in your area. Sometimes your iPhone goes into SOS mode when there are no signals available from your carrier.

Try moving to a different location or get near a window, outside, or another area where you normally get better reception. If the signal returns, your iPhone will automatically reconnect to the network and get out of SOS mode.

Fix 2: Toggle Airplane Mode

One of the most effective ways to get an iPhone out of SOS mode is by toggling Airplane mode on and off. Doing so refreshes your iPhone’s connection with your cellular network and fixes a device that is stuck in SOS mode.

To do this, swipe down from the top right corner to access the Control Center. Then tap on the Airplane mode button. Wait 10 seconds and turn the Airplane mode off again.

Fix 3: Remove and reinsert the SIM card

If your iPhone is still showing SOS only in the status bar, your SIM card might be the issue. Use a SIM ejector tool to remove the SIM card from the device, and check for dust or damage.

After carefully inspecting the SIM card, put it back into the device. This should get the iPhone working properly again.

Fix 4: Reset Network Settings

If nothing has worked so far, then resetting your iPhone’s Network Settings can help.

You can easily do this by following the steps below.

  1. Open Settings and tap on General.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  3. Tap on Reset and then on Reset Network Settings.

After the network settings are reset, connect to your network and try again. This should bring your iPhone out of SOS only mode.

That’s it, this is how you can fix an iPhone that is stuck in SOS or SOS only mode. Let us know which fix worked for you in the comments below.
