In this guide, we show you how you can turn off the Announce Notifications feature. With this, you can prevent Siri from reading your text messages and other notifications when you are using AirPods and other headphones.
Siri has a handy feature that allows it to read out incoming messages and notifications to the user. This feature is designed to let users stay up to date with their alerts as they can listen to incoming messages on their AirPods all while their iPhone sits in their pocket.
While this feature brings convenience to user’s lives, it can also be annoying as it can distract users while they are enjoying music or listening to a podcast.
You can follow the steps below to disable the Announce Notifications feature and prevent Siri from reading your messages to you.
Turn off Announce Messages on AirPods
- Launch the Settings app and go to Notifications.
- From there tap on Announce Notifications option.
- Then find the Headphones toggle under the Announce When Connected heading.
- Turn off the Headphones toggle.
On the same page, you can also find a list of apps and turn off the Announce Notifications feature for individual apps instead of turning it completely off. To do this, just tap on the app’s name and turn off the toggle on the next page.
