With iOS 18.1 Apple has introduced a new AI-based feature called Notifications Summaries. This new feature uses Apple Intelligence to summarize user’s messages and notifications, making it easier for them to catch up on what they have missed. The summaries are disabled on the Lock Screen and on the Notification Center.
Notifications Summaries automatically condenses your notifications and summarizes multiple notifications into a single banner. You can tap on this banner to expand the alerts and see each notification. While this is a useful feature, it can also be annoying to some users.
In this guide, we will share instructions that will help you turn off the Notification Summaries feature on your iPhone or iPad running OS 18.1 or later.
Turn off Notification Summaries
- Open Settings and go to Notifications.
- On the next screen tap on Summarize Previews option.
- Next, turn off the toggle for Summarize Previews.
Here you will also find a list of apps. You can choose to disable the Notification Summaries feature for individual apps rather than disabling this feature altogether. For example, you can turn this feature off for the Messages app while keeping it enabled for WhatsApp. To do this, simply turn off the toggle next to the app’s name.
There you have it, this is how you can disable the Notifications Summaries that appear on your iPhone’s lock screen summarizing your messages.
