How to Turn On iMessage on iPhone 17

Turn on iMessage

In this guide, we show you how you can enable iMessage on your iPhone and start using it for sending messages, images, videos, stickers, and much more.

iMessage is a must-have feature for all iPhone and iPad users. It allows them to communicate with other Apple device users and send blue-bubble messages to their family and friends.

Activate iMessage

You can activate and use iMessage by following the simple steps below.

  1. Unlock your iPhone and open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap on the Messages option.
  3. Here, find the ‘iMessage’ toggle and turn it on.
  4. Once iMessage has activated, tap on the ‘Send & Receive’ option and select the phone numbers and email address you want to receive iMessages on.
  5. Then, under the Start New Conversations From section, select the phone number or email address you want to start new conversations from.

Note: It might take a few seconds to activate, and you will see a message saying ‘Waiting for activation’ while iMessage attempts to activate.

Once iMessage is activated, you will see the toggle turn green, which means you are ready to go. Now simply open the Messages app and start sending iMessages!
