Use WhatsApp account on two smartphones

In its recent update, WhatsApp has finally made it possible for its users to use their WhatsApp account on two different smartphones. This means you can use the same WhatsApp account on two iPhones or an iPhone and an Android in addition to your Mac, Windows, or the web.

Previously WhatsApp only allowed users to use their WhatsApp account on their iPhone and 4 other linked devices. However, those linked devices could not have been another smartphone, as users could only access their WhatsApp account on a computer, tablet, or the web.

That has now changed, as now users will be able to send and receive messages, media files, and make calls from a secondary smartphone.

Using a WhatsApp account on two different iPhones or any other smartphone is easy. Once you have added your account on a second smartphone, all your messages and media will be synced across both devices and you will be able to use your WhatsApp account from the device of your choice.

Do note that just like before your WhatsApp account will be logged out of your secondary smartphone if your primary device is inactive for some time.

Step 1. First of all, download the WhatsApp app on your secondary device. Download it from the App Store here, or if your second smartphone is an Android device, then download it from Play Store here.

Step 2. Launch the app on the second smartphone and tap on the ‘Link to existing account’ option. This will generate a QR code on your screen.

Step 3. On your primary smartphone launch WhatsApp and go to Settings -> Linked Devices.

Step 4. Now tap on ‘Link a device’ option and scan the QR code from the other device.

That’s it! Now WhatsApp account will be added to your new smartphone and you will be able to use it on both devices. All of your conversations will be synced across both devices as well.

Just keep in mind that you will be logged out of your secondary device automatically if your primary smartphone is inactive or not connected to the Internet for some time.
