Apple has released the iPadOS 26 software update for all users, and it is now available for download. If you have a compatible iPad, then you can now install the update using the over-the-air and direct IPSW install methods.
The first and easiest method is installing over-the-air. For this, open Settings -> General -> Software Update and tap on Upgrade to iPadOS 26. Then install the update.
If you wish to install a clean copy of iPadOS, then you can also update through iTunes or Finder, or restore your device. This method can also help if you are facing trouble installing iPadOS 26 over the air.

How to install iOS 26.0 through IPSW
Before you begin: Make sure you create a fresh backup of your iOS device. You can back up your iPad on your computer or create an iCloud backup.
- After the download has completed, connect your iPad to your computer using a USB cable.
- Now launch iTunes on Windows or Finder on Mac and go to the Summary screen.
- Press and hold the Option key or Shift key (on Windows), and click on the ‘Restore iPad’ button. This will do a clean install of iOS on your device. Remember, your data will be lost, so make sure you create a backup first.
- If you don’t want to Restore and simply want to Update your device, then press and hold the Option key or Shift key (on Windows) and then click on the Update button.
- Wait for iOS to complete installation. Your iPad might restart a few times during this process. Do not unplug your device.
