Apple has released iOS 27 Release Candidate (RC) to developers and public beta testers, marking the final stage of testing before the big release next week.

At its Surprise and Shine iPhone event, Apple also announced that iOS 27 will be released to the public on September 14. Apple released iOS 27 beta 8 on August 31, which was the latest beta before the expected transition to the Release Candidate.

The iOS 27 Release Candidate (RC) is essentially Apple’s final version of iOS 27 before the public release next week. While Apple can still issue another RC if serious problems are discovered, the RC build will typically become the version distributed to the public if everything goes smoothly.

Should you install iOS 27 Release Candidate?

If you are already testing iOS 27 beta, then you should definitely install iOS 27 RC. However, if you are someone who is not testing iOS 27 and rely on your iPhone for work or other important tasks, then it might be a good idea to wait until next week’s public release.

Although the RC is considered close to final, Apple can still discover last-minute bugs and release another build. All of your apps might also not be ready for iOS 27, and you might experience frequent app crashes if you update to iOS 27 RC. For most users, waiting a few days for the official release is the safer option.

You can install iOS 27 Release Candidate if your Apple account is registered with Apple Developer Program or Apple’s Public Beta Program.
