Apple’s AirPower Wireless Charging Accessory Will Not Be Available Before 2018

Apple AirPower Mat

Apple announced a cool AirPower charging mat for the wireless charging capable devices, however the company is not releasing it anytime soon. The accessory is not listed on the new accessories page on, and according to its website it won’t be releasing until next year.

What makes the Apple AirPower cool is the fact that it allows users to wirelessly charge multiple devices at once. Apple showed the mat charging on an iPhone, Apple Watch Series 3 and the newer AirPods all at once. Unfortunately you will need an Apple Watch Series 3 to take advantage of this feature. Even though older Apple Watches support wireless charging through the magnetic power connector, they don’t have Qi based wireless charging.

This will make the life of iOS users much easier as right now users have to recharge all of these devices separately using cable based chargers. With the new wireless charging mat all you have to do is place your devices on the AirPower at night and wake up to fully charged devices hassle free.

Until Apple releases its own accessory we have plenty of options to go around. Apple is even selling a Qi standard based wireless charger from Mophie on its online store for $60 and has announced that it will be selling wireless chargers from different brands in its retail stores. Amazon has Qi based wireless chargers available for as low as $10.

One can rest assured that the device will be priced high, perhaps somewhere between $80 to $120. This is just speculation though as Apple has not even announced the pricing details for it.
