Just like last year Apple has paid great attention to Pro lineup’s triple camera system. The new iPhones feature upgraded sensors and lenses in all three cameras and take advantage of A15 Bionic’s new image sensor processor (ISP) to deliver better noise reduction and tone mapping. Both models have a new wide camera that comes with a larger sensor with 1.9 µm pixels.
The larger pixel helps in noise reduction and faster shutter speeds. For improved low light performance the wide camera lens features ƒ/1.5 aperture, which is 2.2x more than iPhone 12 Pro and 1.5x more compared with iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Apple is also bringing Sensor-Shift Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to all iPhones including iPhone 13 Pro for smooth and steady video recording.
The ultra-wide camera on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max has received improvements and now comes with wider ƒ/1.8 aperture and a new autofocus system that according to Apple brings in 92 percent improvement for low-light conditions. The new Autofocus capability of the ultra-wide lens also brings macro photography to the iPhone, enabling users to take macro shots with a minimum focus distance of 2 centimetres. The Macro capabilities of iPhone are not limited to photos as users can also record videos in Macro in normal, slo-mo and time-lapse modes.
The new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max features all new 77 mm Telephoto camera, that offers 3x optical zoom for a total 6x optical zoom range on the camera system.
The Super XDR Retina Display on the Pro models now features ProMotion technology. With ProMotion iPhones can now offer up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate allowing them to refresh from 10 to 120 times per second depending on what’s on the screen. The screen is also 25 percent brighter outdoors and goes up to 1200 nits for HDR content. The notch on the new iPhones has been made smaller so users now get more screen real estate.
The screen is protected with Ceramic Shield that according to Apple is tougher than any smartphone glass.
The device has an IP68 water resistance, offers 2.5 hours more battery like on iPhone 13 Pro Max compared to last year’s model and 1.5 hours more battery like on iPhone 13 Pro compared to last year’s model.
