Even though the 10th generation iPad might be getting all the attention, it isn’t the only new iPad that Apple has released today. Apple has also refreshed its iPad Pro lineup with upgraded specifications.
The most significant change in the 2022 iPad Pro lineup is the addition of M2 chip, which will help in improved performance on the new tablet over the M1 version. Apple says it features 8-core CPU, which offers a 15 percent improved performance over the M1 chip. On the GPU side the new M2 chip in iPad Pro has 10-core GPU that offers 35 percent improvement over M1.
Combined with the CPU and GPU, the 16-core Neural Engine can process 15.8 trillion operations per second — 40 percent more than M1 — making iPad Pro even more powerful when handling machine learning tasks. The M2 chip also features 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth — 50 percent more than M1 — and supports up to 16GB of fast unified memory, making multitasking and working with large assets even more fluid.2

The next generation iPad Pros also features a new Apple Pencil hover experience that Apple says is ‘next-level’. When using Apple Pencil 2 with the new iPad users will be able to hover the Pencil over the iPad’s screen. iPad Pros will detect Apple Pencil when its 12mm above the display and enable users to see a preview of their mark before they make it.
According to Apple the new hover feature will allow users to sketch and illustrate with greater precision.
Talking about the new hover with Apple Pencil 2 feature Apple writes:
For example, with Scribble, text fields automatically expand when the pencil gets near the screen, and handwriting converts to text even faster. Third-party apps can also take advantage of this new feature to enable entirely new marking and drawing experiences.
