Apple Releases iOS 12.1.1 Along With macOS 10.14.2, tvOS 12.1.1 And HomePod 12.1.1

Apple has released software updates for almost all its devices and they are now available for download on their respective devices. For iPhone and iPad, the company has released iOS 12.1.1 while for Macs macOS 10.14.2 has been made available for download. Apple TV and HomePod have also received tvOS 12.1.1 and HomePod 12.1.1 respectively. As of now watchOS is the only operating system that is missing this release.

Even though iOS 12.1.1 is a minor update, it does bring significant improvements for FaceTime. FaceTime improvements include a tweaked user-interface that makes it easier for users to switch between front and back cameras during video calls. Now the camera switch button is more easily accessible. iOS 12.1.1 also brings back the ability to take Live Photos during FaceTime calls. This feature was removed when iOS 12 was released so it is good that Apple has brought the fun and useful feature back.

Haptic Touch on the newly released iPhone XR has also received improvements in this release. Now the device will give haptic feedback when expanding notifications with a long press.

Other features introduced in iOS 12.1.1 include eSIM support for addition carriers on newer iPhones and option to hide the sidebar in iPad’s News app in landscape orientation. You can download iOS 12.1.1 by going to Settings > General > Software Update, or by connecting your iPhone to iTunes and automatically downloading the update. Alternatively you can use the following iOS 12.1.1 IPSW to directly download the update on your computer and update manually using iTunes.
