Apple has released iOS 16.5.1 (a) Rapid Security Response Update for the public and it is now available for download on iPhones and iPads that are running iOS 16.5.1 and iPadOS 16.5.1.
This release brings an important security fix for iOS devices and is recommended for all users. Today’s update is the second Rapid Security Response update that has been released by Apple. A previous such update was released back in May with iOS 16.4.1 (a).
You can head over to the Software Update section of your iPhone or iPad in order to download iOS 16.5.1 (a) Rapid Security Response Update.
With iOS 16.5.1 (a) and iPadOS 16.5.1 (a), Apple has fixed a vulnerability related to WebKit, and the company says this vulnerability was actively exploited.
According to Apple processing web content allowed a malicious attacker to perform arbitrary code execution. This vulnerability has been fixed with today’s update. Apple has credited an anonymous researcher for reporting this exploit.
To download iOS 16.5.1 (a) open Settings -> General -> Software Update. Apple also allows users to remove the Rapid Security Response by going to the Software Update page and tapping on the Remove Security Response option.
In addition to iOS 16.5.1 (a), Apple has also released macOS Ventural 13.4.1 (a) and iOS 16.6 beta 5 for developers.
