Apple has already announced a special event that is scheduled to take place on September 15. Everyone expects the next generation of iPhone to be the focus of this event, however according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman that may not be the case.
According to a report published on Bloomberg, Apple’s Time Flies event will focus on the release of Apple Watch and iPad. Although Apple has traditionally announced new iPhones in September, Gurman says Apple will wait until October to announce the flagship device.
At the already announced September 15 event the company will announce new Apple Watch, which should include Apple Watch Series 6 and new iPad hardware. This would also include a new iPad Air with edge-to-edge screen, which we have already seen on iPad Pros. A smaller HomePod and Apple branded over ear headphones could also get announced at this event, however their launch is expected for later this year.
Apple’s iPhone delay has most likely occurred due to supply chain issues caused due to the 2020’s COVID-19 Pandemic. Apple has also confirmed that this year’s iPhone launch will arrive a few weeks later than iPhone 11 did last year, so it is not surprising that Apple will not be announcing its new iPhones at the upcoming event.
