With the release of iOS 18.1 Beta, Apple has brought Apple Intelligence to beta testers. Another feature that has been activated in this release is the call recording feature of the Phone app.

In iOS 18.1 beta 1 users get a voice recording button that is placed at the top left corner of the screen. When this button is tapped iPhone starts recording the phone call.

As soon as you tap on the call recording button a timer runs for three seconds after which the iPhone announces “This call is being recorded” on both ends of the call. After this, the call starts recording.

Users can tap on the stop recording button to stop call recording. When you stop recording a call the iPhone again announces “This call is no longer being recorded”, letting both users know the recording has now stopped.

After the call recording has stopped the recorded conversation is stored in the Notes app along with the automatically generated transcription of the phone call. The note is saved with the title “Call with contact’s name”.

If you record multiple calls with the same contact, then all of the call recordings are placed under a single note.
