iPhone 15 Pro To Feature Thinner Display Borders And Titanium Body, iPhone 15 To Get Dynamic Island

We are about to enter August, which means iPhone 15’s launch is just over a month away. With a new iPhone’s release just around the corner, we are also hearing some reliable reports that claim to reveal what the new device will look like.

The latest report comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has revealed some important information about the upcoming iPhones in his latest edition of the PowerOn newsletter.

According to Gurman’s report, Apple is going to introduce major changes to iPhone 15’s display. The changes will be seen across the whole lineup, which includes iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models.

On iPhone 15 models Apple is going to introduce Dynamic Island for the first time. This marks the end of the traditional notch that has been the part of iPhone since the iPhone X.

On iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max Apple will be bringing a new technology called Low Injection Pressure Over Molding or LIPO. This new technology will enable Apple to reduce the size of the black border around the iPhone display. Thanks to LIPO Apple will be able to shrink iPhone 15 Pro’s border size to 1.5 millimeters. This is down from the 2.2 millimeters that we have on the current iPhone models.

Apple plans to expand the use of LIPO technology beyond iPhone 15 and plans to bring it to iPads as well.

Along with thinner display borders, iPhone 15 Pro models will feature a new Titanium design. Compared to Stainless Steel found on current Pro models, Titanium will be lighter, stronger, and more premium. iPhone 15 Pro will have edges that will be less sharp than before while they will retain the frosted glass back.

The inside of the iPhone 15 Pro has been revamped to match the new chassis. The revamping of the inside will also make the device easier to repair than before.

Rear cameras on the Pro models will get major upgrades. On iPhone 15 Pro Max users will be able to enjoy a much wider range of optical zoom.

On iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus Apple is going to bring the A16 chip, which is the same chip that powers iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro models will feature a new 3-nanometer chip, which will offer faster speeds to the users.

All four iPhones of this year will also make the transition from Lightning Port to USB-C. USB-C port will offer faster syncing speeds for users who back up their iPhones with their computers.

Gurman has also talked about some canceled features of the iPhone 15. This includes the rumored touch-sensitive volume buttons, power buttons, and mute switch with haptic feedback. According to the report, this feature was canceled due to a ‘slew of engineering problems’ along with concerns about the increased costs.

Speaking of buttons iPhone 15 will feature a new Action button that will replace the mute/ring switch found on current models. Users will be able to assign their desired action to this button from Settings. These actions include the ability to quickly launch the camera, turn on the flashlight, turn on Do Not Disturb, access accessibility features, and more.

A price increase is also hinted at in the report outside of the US, however, Gurman has not ruled out the possibility of a price increase in the US as well.

New Apple Watches

Apple is said to launch three new Apple Watches this year. This includes two standard Apple Watch Series 9 models including a 41-millimeter watch and a 45-millimeter watch. Along with this Apple is also going to launch a second-generation Apple Watch Ultra.

No new Apple Watch SE is expected this year, as Apple will continue selling the Apple Watch SE that was refreshed in 2022.

A new S9 chip will power all Apple Watch models with the new chip offering significant performance improvement.
