Despite its aging specs and outdated design iPhone SE is an option many in the market for a compact smartphone still consider. When the rumors about an upcoming iPhone SE 2 with wireless charging and other new features surfaced it brought a new wave of interest for the budget 4-inch iPhone.
Now it seems like KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo has some bad news for the 4-inch iPhone fans. According to the analyst, the next iteration of iPhone SE will not have a redesign, something many users were hoping for. In fact it will also not have wireless charging and a glass back as claimed in some of the recent rumors. Rumors about iPhone SE 2 with glass back design and better specs appeared a few days ago.
Instead KGI believes an upgraded iPhone SE second generation might get released with same design. This new smartphone will feature upgraded specifications that will allow the device to smoothly run iOS 12. According to KGI features like wireless charging and 3D sensing are too high-end for a budget device like SE to have, at least for now.
A device with current iPhone SE design that dates back to 2013’s iPhone 5 and lack of wireless charging is likely to disappoint the 4-inch iPhone fanbase who buy the device not just for its lower price but also compact size.
