In the past few days we have heard rumors that iPhone 14 will feature a pill shaped camera cutout instead of a notch. Now reliable Display Supply Chain Consultants analyst Ross Young says iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will indeed feature a pill shaped camera cutout, however that will not be the only cutout at the top of the display.
In his tweet Young says iPhone 14 Pro devices will feature a ‘hole + pill’ design. He also emphasises on the fact that the smaller hole that will be located on left side of the pill shaped hole will not be invisible. Some other reports had said the smaller punch hole will be invisible.
Ross Young is considered to be a reliable source when it comes to news about unreleased Apple products as he gets his information from Apple’s supply chain sources.
If this turns out to be true, then the hole + pill design will be unique to Apple and give Apple’s iPhone and other products a distinct look, similar to how the iPhone notch gives iPhones a unique look when look at from the front.
Interestingly in the tweet Young has specifically mentioned iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, leaving out the iPhone 14. It is unclear at this point whether Apple will keep the new camera cutout limited to the Pro models or will it also be expanding it to the iPhone 14.
Here’s a demo of iPhone 14 camera cutout based on mockups.
In other iPhone 14 Pro news, TrendForce claims iPhone 14 Pro models will feature a 48-megapixel rear camera.
