Apple has announced the brand new Apple Watch Series 7 with a larger screen, faster charging, new colors and more.
At its California Streaming media event Apple took the stage to announce new hardware that included iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini and iPad mini. The company also revealed the new Apple Watch Series 7, which will be replacing last year’s Series 6.
The larger display
The biggest and most noticeable feature of the new Apple Watch is the larger always-on Retina Display that takes advantage of narrower borders of the screen to deliver more useable screen real estate to the users.
According to Apple the new screen offers 20 percent more screen area and features thinner borders that are just 1.7mm thin. The borders on the new Watch are 40 precent thinner than the previous generation.
The new screen size means Apple Watch Series 7 is now 41mm in size for the smaller model compared to 40mm of previous generations. Similarly the larger model is now 45mm in size, that is up from 44mm of Series 6.
The new display is also brighter in always-on mode and can go up to 70 percent brighter indoors while your wrist is down.
Apple has also made Apple Watch Series 7 more durable by adding a stronger crack-resistant front crystal. The durability boost does not stop there as the Apple Watch Series 7 is the first ever Apple Watch to feature IP6X certification that offers resistance to dust.
The new Watch also features an exclusive QWERTY keyboard that users can tap to type or swipe on with QuickPath feature. The keyboard is only available on the latest Apple Watch perhaps due to its larger screen size.
Apple Watch Series 7 offers faster charging. The device charges 33 percent faster than the previous generation thanks to a new charging architecture that has been introduced. Apple is also finally shipping a faster magnetic USB-C cable with the Apple Watch.
Two new exclusive Watch faces have also been introduced for Series 7 including the new Contour face and new Modular Duo face.
New color options
Apple is releasing Apple Watch Series 7 in five new aluminium finishes that includes midnight, starlight, green, blue and (PRODUCT)RED. Stainless steel models are available in Silver, Graphite and gold just like before.
Pricing and availability
It starts at the same $399 for the 41mm model and $429 for the 45mm model.
Apple Watch Series 7 will be available for order later in the fall.
